Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum has decided to exempt drivers with harmless traffic violations from vehicle confiscation given their traffic abiding record is clear of any serious offense. The new traffic rule will be put into effect immediately and would also benefit the offenders who have completed half of the vehicle impoundment period.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police informed that this move falls in line with Year of Giving initiative, announced late last year by President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
He further said the new traffic rule will be helpful for drivers with non-dangerous traffic offenses encouraging them to keep their records clean.
The Commander in Chief also said the drivers committing dangerous traffic offenses such as illegal racing, reckless driving, breaking the signal, speeding, jeopardizing pedestrian’s lives and causing damage to other vehicles will not be exempted from this condition and will risk the confiscation of their vehicle.
Al Mari advised drivers to be more careful while driving to avoid accidents. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of traffic rules that every motorist should abide by.
