The new Audi e-tron Sportback concept has just been unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show and according to the automaker, the production model might arrive sometime in 2019.
The Audi e-tron Sportback concept is an all-electric crossover with one electric motor fitted on the front axle and two motors on the back axle. It generates 430 horsepower which bumps to 500 hp in the boost mode taking it to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Besides the electric motors, the e-tron Sportback features a lithium-ion battery incorporated under the floor between the axles. This setup enables the e-tron to have a low center of gravity and a 52:48 weight distribution.
On the inside, the e-tron Sportback has high-end technological equipment including a touch-sensitive display on the front dash, center console and even on the doors. The key exterior details include an octagonal front grille, huge 23-inch 6 spoke wheels, full LED lights and wide wheel arches.
Once launched, the Audi e-tron Sportback will compete against the Jaguar I-Pace and the Mercedes first electric SUV planned to arrive in 2019. It will also go head to head with the Tesla vehicles. More details will be uncovered by the automaker in the coming months.
