The 2018 Buick Regal was scheduled to debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show (April 14–April 23, 2017), however the automaker decided to give a preview to the fans prior to its launch and revealed important information regarding the vehicle.
The 2018 Buick Regal will now be available in two body configurations; the hatchback which will be called ‘Sportback’, and a station wagon dubbed as the ‘TourX’. Design-wise, both the models have a similar front fascia with a new redesigned grille incorporating vertical slats and the Buick monogram. The Regal Sportback boasts an increased wheelbase and a more sophisticated stance.
The Buick Regal TourX is longer than its hatchback counterpart and has a higher ground clearance. Moreover, it features black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and roof rails. The trunk space measures 31.5 cubic feet, which can be increased to 60.7 cubic feet by folding the rear seats.
On the inside, the 2018 Buick Regal features a seven-inch touch display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality. Other standard equipment includes key-less entry system, push-button start/stop system, heated mirrors and a universal home remote.
Powering the Regal Sportback is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder unit generating 250 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Customers can also opt for the all-wheel drive model, which is equipped with an 8-speed transmission system.
The Buick Regal is expected to go on sale in the international markets later this year.
