The upcoming 2018 Hyundai Kona has been caught testing in a heavy disguise, however we can still deduce some exterior details.
The first thing we can spot is the low ground clearance, which makes Kona look more like a hatchback rather than a crossover. Talking about the front fascia, it incorporates stylish LED headlamps placed low along with LED accent strips similar to the ones fitted in Jeep Cherokee. The new cascading front grille and sleek fog lamps add a bold stance to the 2018 Hyundai Kona.
The rear profile was more heavily disguised, so the components were barely visible. However, seeing the side profile, the Kona does look smaller in size compared to the Hyundai Tucson. The photographers were also able to capture the pictures of the interior. The center stack resembles that of the Elantra GT’s and includes a touch display along with two air vents and HVAC controls. The steering wheel also seems to be adopted from the Elantra GT.
The powertrain specifications are currently unknown, but it is reported the Hyundai Kona will feature a 2.0L l-4 engine yielding 147 horsepower and paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.6L turbo-four engine is also a possibility.
