Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) has unveiled Happiness Ambulance, at the Dubai International Government Achievement Exhibition (DIGAS) that lift children’s spirits during medical treatments.
Happiness Ambulance works like a regular ambulance except its interior is equipped with electronics the children love including Play Station, iPad and TV, to keep their anxiety at bay. It helps diverting children’s attention from their injuries and quell their fears regarding ambulance cars, said Fahad Al Saadi, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at DCAS.
Children are naturally terrified of ambulances, which is why Happiness Ambulance is kept on stand for situations where they are nervous and refuse to get in the vehicle. The colorful light green interior equipped with gaming environment calms their nerves, added the EMT.
Apart from this customized ambulance, DCAS also introduced another innovation to create comfortable environment and motivate children to go through their first aid training. A remote control car with a camel driver can surely get their attention, informed Eisa Al Ghafari, director of Co-operation Support Department at DCAS.
He further told their main focus this year was to introduce innovations for children to keep them from experiencing two shocks; their injury and wailing ambulance sirens.
Other prominent innovation was Happiness Point Program by Community Development Authority (CDA), which aims to motivate lagging employees and improve their services.
