The Aston Martin DBX SUV concept was first showcased in 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show. Recently, the British automaker released a teaser image of the SUV hinting at its arrival soon.
The teaser shot shows that the Aston Martin DBX will boast a much longer and flat roof compared to the concept model. Moreover, the DBX will have four doors and a rear hatch. It will be built at the automaker’s new plant in Wales. The same facility will also be used for the production of the Lagonda-badged sedan, which is set to launch in the start of the next decade.
The powertrain details are currently scarce, but we know the DBX concept was equipped with powerful electric motors instead of the standard V12 engine and it was an all-wheel drive vehicle. Also, Aston Martin will use a new dedicated platform for the DBX instead of opting the Mercedes-Benz platform. However, some components will surely be borrowed from the Mercedes.
The Aston Martin DBX is a part of the automaker’s Second Century Plan, which also includes the DB11 launched in 2016 and the upcoming 2018 Vantage. Next year, the automaker will add the redesigned Vanquish to its lineup. Stay tuned for more details on the DBX SUV.
