Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) has added to its fleet 5 sport cars modified into ambulances. The sports car ambulances are said to reduce the regular response time to half with a speed of 300 kph and taking only 4 minutes to arrive at the emergency scene.
At the Dubai International Conference, executive director DCAS, Khalifa bin Derai said the new sport car ambulances will serve as mobile hospitals, carrying two trained paramedics who would provide first aid to the patients. Each ambulance will be equipped with defibrillators, cardiac resuscitation unit, artificial respiration system, blood pressure and diabetes monitoring devices and apparatus to treat wounds and bone fracture. With the new additions, Dubai is expected to reduce its casualty rate.
These ambulances will specially be helpful for people who suffer from cardiac arrest or stroke, as initial treatment and medication can be given on the way to the hospital, thereby saving time and life.
The sports car ambulances (each worth Dh 1 million) will be positioned in tourist areas, conference centers and crowded places like at festivals to provide people the best and the fastest medical car.
The 300 km/h Mustang ambulance was displayed last Thursday at second International Ambulance Conference.
