Dubai Electric and Water Authority (DEWA) has planned to double its electric car charging stations (from 100 to 200) to make charging convenient and encourage motorists to switch to electric vehicles to contribute to green environment.
To facilitate its mission of achieving sustainability, the government has launched certain initiatives to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and transform Dubai into a green economy. The promotion of electric cars and installation of electric charging stations by DEWA are also the right steps toward achieving the long-term Green Economy for Sustainable Development Initiative. This initiative was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Makhdoom to make Dubai the smartest city in the world.
DEWA is setting two types of charging stations. The Fast Stations with 20-40 minutes charging time will be installed on petrol stations. The Medium Charging Stations will be installed at parks, shopping malls and hospitals and would take 2-4 hours, while the Wall Charging Stations would take a little longer like 2-4 hours. The electric chargers that are under the sun will operate on solar technology to eliminate carbon release. These stations are compatible with latest technologies incorporated in modern cars.
Dubai is on the right track to minimizing its fuel consumption, thus reducing pollution and achieving sustainability for a safe future.
