A few days back we heard rumors regarding the Aston Martin Rapide S that it is being replaced with a new sports car. Now, it has been confirmed that this is not true. In fact, the news was misinterpreted by some of the automotive outlets. The correct report is that the automaker is ditching the V-12 powered Rapide S and instead will introduce an all-electric version titled as Aston Martin RapidE.
The Aston Martin CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer has also confirmed the same and further mentioned that those who prefer the traditional Rapide S with a gasoline engine should look to get the Lagonda or DBX crossover.
The Aston Martin RapidE is expected to carry a highly potent powertrain developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering spawning up to 800 horsepower. It will offer a range of 199 miles (320 kilometers). The same electric powertrain will also be used in other Aston Martin models including the DBX, which was previewed in concept form back in 2015.
We expect the Aston Martin RapidE electric sports sedan to debut sometime next year along with the new DBX crossover. We currently can’t say for sure when it will make its debut in the UAE.
