Subaru has been giving hints of a seven-seat SUV joining the lineup since past 2 years. The recent spyshots indicate that something new is coming very soon. These pictures show the new 2018 Subaru Ascent, which was caught testing somewhere on the road.
Although the 2018 Subaru Ascent is wearing a camouflage, it somewhat appears to resemble the Viziz-7 Concept, which was showcased last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It will slot above the Subaru Outback and the Forester in terms of size and price.
Powering the upcoming Ascent will most likely be a 2.0L turbocharged engine developing 250 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft of torque. The upper trims might feature a 3.6L flat-six unit generating 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft of torque.
The current 2017 Subaru Outback is priced at $23,500, so we can expect the new Ascent base model to start from around $30,000, while the range-topping variant could cost around $45,000.
The official debut should take place next month at the 2017 New York Auto Show and it should arrive at the dealerships in the beginning of 2018. The UAE debut is expected shortly after its revelation in the international markets.
