The production of the Dodge Viper is about to end soon, and if you are upset because the automaker didn’t release an open-top version of the car, don’t be. Meet the upcoming VLF Force 1 V10 Roadster, jointly created by by Henrik Fisker, former General Motors chairman Bob Lutz, and well-known Viper racer Ben Keating.
The VLF Force 1 V10 Roadster will be based on the Dodge Viper and is an open-top variant of the VLF Force 1 V10 coupe, which was showcased at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. VLF Automotive has released some teaser images, which show the Force 1 V10 Roadster in the development phase. You also see the VLF design boss Henrik Fisker working alongside his team at the company’s headquarters.
The automaker has not revealed the powertrain specifications, but we anticipate the Roadster will carry the same engine as the coupe counterpart, which is an 8.4L V10 unit paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed, paddle-shifted automatic transmission system generating up to 745 horsepower and 638 lb.-ft of torque.
VLF is yet to disclose when the Force 1 Roadster will make its public appearance, but it could possibly appear at the New York Auto Show or the Shanghai Auto Show next month. Expect the price to be more than $268,500 (the coupe variant’s price tag).
