Looking to get your hands on a really powerful SUV? Well, you can opt for the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, which is set to arrive soon carrying a mighty 680 horsepower engine.
Porsche CEO Oliver Blume was recently interviewed by Motoring.au, where he revealed that the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid is in works and it will house the Turbo S E-Hybrid powertrain, which comprises of a turbocharged 4.0L V8 unit mated to an electric motor. The engine delivers a total output of 680 horsepower and 628 pounds-feet of torque. Oliver Blume further told that the reason behind this update is to promote electric engines.
The Turbo S E-Hybrid powertrain is also present in the Porsche Panamera, that enables the sedan to go from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 193 mph. With this powertrain, the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid will compete against the likes of Lamborghini URUS.
Blume also mentioned that Porsche will not introduce a hybrid powertrain for the current generation 911, however the next-gen model – codenamed 992 – will feature a plug-in hybrid system.
The new Cayenne is expected to arrive later this year.
