The all-new 2017 BAIC BJ40 has been recently unveiled in Muscat Oman. The launch was held at an exclusive event organized by Great Gulf Sands (GGS), who handles the distribution of BAIC passenger cars, SUVs and LCVs in the region.
Announced in November 2016, the 2017 BAIC BJ40 is an SUV that finds a great resemblance to the Jeep Wrangler. Looking from various angles, the vehicle reminds us of the legendary American SUV including the grills on the grid, which are so similar that some may mix them with Jeep.
The BJ40 comes in two-door and four-door body configurations. Underneath its bonnet is a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that churns out 231 horsepower channeled to all the four-wheels. The only transmission option is 6-speed automatic.
The interior continues with its exterior appearance featuring multi-function leather steering wheel and leather-lined seats, 7″ display screen, navigation system, reverse camera, parking sensors, manual air-conditioning with rear AC outlet, compass/altimetre/declinator, rear seat fold with overturn and front armrest.
To enjoy the open air, the roof, doors and the windscreen can be easily detached, hence offering a different look, thrill and adventure to the passengers.
The safety features are also commendable encompassing ABS + EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Control, dual airbag, central door lock, parking sensor, rear view camera, TPMS and anti-roll cage.
GGS was very delighted on the launch and senses the 2017 BJ40 would be a success in Oman. “We are happy to launch the 4WD SUV BJ40, with which we expect to set new standards in the four-wheel drive SUV segment.” said a Spokesperson. “We had launched the BAIC range of vehicles in Oman last year and are thrilled with the overwhelming response.”
