A few days back we shared some key details about the Aston Martin hypercar codenamed AM-RB 001. At that time, we did not know that the automaker has plans to change the name of the speedster. However, recently at the 2017 Toronto Auto Show, the automaker confirmed that the hypercar will not use the ‘AM-RB 011’ name.
At the show, Aston Martin’s CEO, Andy Palmer promised to decide a new name for the hypercar. He further added that the company will begin testing the prototypes before the end of 2017 and the production models will be delivered in 2018.
The Aston Martin hypercar will be limited to 150 units, out of which 25 will be track-only models. It will house a naturally aspirated V12 engine built by Cosworth, which will be capable of delivering up to 1,000 horsepower. Moreover, the hypercar will boast a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.
Considering the fact that the hypercar will be built in collaboration with the Red Bull racing Formula One team, we expect a name-plate, which will be somewhat related to the energy drink company. The pricing details and other information will be revealed in the coming months.
