The top outfit brand, Adidas found Tesla’s Model 3 stripped trademark too similar to its signature logo, and in its agitation, Adidas filed a lawsuit with Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the US Patent and Trademark Office to prohibit the EV manufacturer to legitimize the trademark. Although three horizontal stripes for the company’s sedan correspond to the distinctive font of ‘E’ in ‘TESLA’, but Adidas couldn’t get over the fact that 3 stripped marks are a unique identification of its sportswear.

To its defense, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk stated that the Model 3 stripped trademark has been changed to numeric 3 . This was decided three weeks before Adidas filed the lawsuit. Tesla stepped back from the old-logo registration on February 7. but cleared that this action was not taken in response to the notice.
