The former ‘Top Gear’ stars gathered under the mighty Burj Khalifa during filming of the season finale of their new Amazon motoring show, The Grand Tour where fans met the trio in person. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have been traveling around the world for a year to shoot the first season of The Grand Tour. Dubai was lucky to ring the curtain down on the show. The Grand Tour Season Finale had its thrill in the trailer, yet it was profoundly exhilarating to watch the actual episode.
The final 13th episode was premiered on February 3 with a perfect synchronization of Clarkson’s opening address and the famous fountains erupting.
A drag race contest between the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 918 was arranged on empty Sheikh Zayed Road to serve as a race course. The National News sighted Hammond performing a stunt during the shooting, the actual footage of which was surprisingly absent from the aired episode. Later, Hammond raced the 918 against the modified Nissan Patrol, which beat the former within seconds. The show also invited Daniel Ricciardo (Australian F1 driver), who happened to lose command of the hovercraft and left May cleaning his blood of the tent window.
These were the highlights of the show in Dubai. The remaining 61-minute season finale of The Grand Tour was dedicated to other segments, leading to wind-up the series. The show put up 13 successful weeks of drag racing, car tripping, traveling and three ageing men being involved in shenanigans. The Season 2 will begin later this year and is certainly to look forward to.
