We have received new teaser images of the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT, and came to know that the stylish hatchback will debut on the 2017 Chicago Auto Show next week.
The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT is believed to be the American version of the Hyundai i30 hatchback, which was unveiled last year at the 2016 Paris Auto Show. It will most likely be powered by the Elantra sedan’s 2.0L in-line four-cylinder engine that would deliver up to 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful variant carrying a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-4 cylinder engine with 200 horsepower is also a possibility.
The exterior styling of the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT looks very similar to its sedan sibling with some minor changes which include the new hexagonal grille design with a chrome trim and updated front head lights. Compared to the current model, the Elantra GT will feature more interior space and cargo carrying capacity, thanks to the longer wheelbase design.
It will also use the Nürburgring-honed chassis. The automaker claims the new Elantra GT has undergone various testing procedures on the Nürburgring race track in Germany. More details about the interior will be uncovered at the debut ceremony. In UAE, the 2017 Hyundai i30 hatchback is priced around AED 52,900.
