Last year, some sources reported that the Tesla Model S owners in Emirates sent a written appeal to Elon Musk (CEO Tesla Motors Inc.) requesting him to inaugurate Tesla UAE store and charging stations. As a result of this request, a meeting was held at the Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi where the matter was further discussed.
After that, it was strongly anticipated that Tesla will open a store in the UAE soon. Just recently, CleanTechnica confirmed that electric carmaker has plans to open Tesla UAE store next month.
The oil-rich region has many opulent customers to benefit from Tesla cars. Over the years, a few wealthy Tesla enthusiasts imported Model S electric sedans and Model X electric SUVs to own zero emission, luxury electric cars.
Even his highness Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice Ruler of Dubai) reportedly owns a Tesla Model S (along with a Supercharger at his residence as the rumors speak of). Additionally, Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, Chairman of Masdar, also owns a Model S.
Tesla has not made any announcement yet. The automaker says, “We don’t have anything to share yet but will certainly keep you posted on any news relating to the UAE.”
