Dubai Police has revealed a new rescue vehicle during the Intersec Expo to respond to road mishaps, chemical accidents, building collapses and other incidents more efficiently. Other unveilings included a special motorcycle and three drones to be used by rescue teams.

Major Khalid Ebrahim Al Hamadi (Director of Difficult Missions Department) highlighted that the new rescue vehicle features latest technology and can easily accommodate six people. It is armed with specialized tools such as cutters, electricity generators, fire extinguishers etc, and can travel at a speed of 120 km/h to reach just in time for saving people caught inside tall buildings or deep in wells.

The special BMW S1000R superbike is also inducted in the VIP Protection Squad. Ruqaia Ahmad (First Sergeant from the motorbike squad in the department) elaborating the distinctive features of the motorcycle told that a special vest and a helmet come along with the bike. The vest has an air bag that self-initiates in the event of a road accident and the helmet features a Bluetooth device to communicate with other team members.

Dubai Police also added three new drones to the rescue equipment to track down explosives. One of these drones can detect explosives at a maximum altitude of 2km and stay overhead for about 45 minutes, while the other drones known as DGI Inspire 1 can elevate to 1km and stay up in air for 25 minutes. All the drones feature night vision cameras for efficient detection of explosives.
