Ford has finally revealed the performance specs for the all-new 2017 Ford GT supercar. If you are a speed enthusiast these might be extremely exciting for you. It is faster than both its rivals; the Ferrari 458 and the McLaren 675 LT.
The new 2017 Ford GT carries a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 unit, which supplies 647 horsepower and 550 lb.-ft of torque. The EPA rating stands at 11/18/14 mpg (city/highway/combined), making it rank below the Dodge Viper in terms of fuel efficiency. The engine has a 9:0:1 compression ratio and is paired to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission system.
Besides being faster than the Ferrari and McLaren, the 2017 Ford GT is also the quickest production model ever built by Ford Motor Company. It will be capable of hitting the 60 mph mark in less than 3 seconds on its way to reach 216 mph. The overall dry weight of the GT is 3,053.84 pounds, which makes it heavier than McLaren the 675LT.
Ford has also tested the new 2017 GT at the Calabogie Motorsports Park in Canada and compared lap times with the 675LT and 488GTB. The Ford GT finished the 3.1 mile track in 2:09.8, while the McLaren and Ferrari clocked a time of 2:10.8 and 2:12.9 respectively.
The automaker will build only 250 examples of the 2017 Ford GT annually at the facility in Markham, Ontario.
