Reports indicate that the first ever Mercedes-Maybach SUV is in works and may debut soon. Since we have not received any official information from the automaker, therefore we have no idea what this Mercedes-Maybach SUV will be called.

Motoring.com.au reports that the SUV will share its platform with the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLS and will adopt some of the styling cues from the electric Maybach 6 concept car which was unveiled last year at the Pebble Beach Concoursd’Elegance.

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLS class will be a 3-row vehicle, while the Maybach SUV is expected to feature only two seating rows with a seating capacity for four or five passengers. The two row seating capacity will allow for more leg room.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Maybach SUV is expected to carry an upgraded version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, which is usually found in the AMG lineup. Motoring also believes that a twin-turbocharged 6.0L V12 unit will be optional. Furthermore, the SUV will definitely feature the 4-Matic all-wheel drive system. It is expected to carry a price tag of $160,000 approx.
