The next-generation McLaren Super Series is set to debut in Geneva in the coming few months. However, the automaker has just released another teaser image, which shows the car’s rear flank.
A closer look at the rear flank exhibits the active wing, which stretches to the full width of the car. The angle of the active wing can be adjusted and optimized to improve the aerodynamic efficiency.
According to McLaren executive director Mark Vinnels, a number of advanced aerodynamic technologies will be implemented on the new McLaren Super Series. The downforce has been improved by 50% compared to the McLaren 650S. The cooling efficiency and the airflow to the engine have also been refined, thanks to the newly designed dihedral doors.
Two individual air ducts have been installed on the doors. One of the ducts draws air from the top of the door to the engine radiator and the other directs air out through the front wheel arch to increase the overall downforce.
The next-generation McLaren Super Series will make use of the new carbon fiber chassis design, which will also help in keeping the weight low. More details will be uncovered as the Geneva Auto Show kicks off in March.
