Rumors have been floating through social media that Dubai Police has imposed new speed limits on Dubai roads, which are actually wrong. The fact is that changes have been made only for radar flashing. All the radars on Dubai roads give motorists a grace window of 20 km/hr. Once they exceed the margin, the radar flashes and speeding fine is imposed.
Dubai Police denied revision in new speed limits and advised people not to trust every news on social media. “One should not post wrong information even if it’s done with good intentions”, Major General Muhammad Saif Al Zafeen (Dubai Police’s Assistant Commander in Chief for Operations) spoke on the matter.
The speed limits remain the same while the friendly radars have been made friendlier. For instance, if a road speed limit is 120 km/hr, and you reach near to 138 km/h, you might see the radar flashing. This has happened not because you exceeded the limit, but due to some alteration in the system.
