A few months back at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, Mercedes revealed a hypercar which carried the same powertrain as the Mercedes AMG F1 team’s championship-winning car. Now, we have a confirmation that the automaker will reveal this, code-named Project One Mercedes AMG hypercar, in September at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show to commemorate the AMG division’s 50th anniversary.

Since Aston Martin and Red Bull are also working on a similar hypercar which will rival the ‘Project One’, Mercedes has kept the information related to the car hidden. Nevertheless, we did find out some interesting details recently at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

The automaker revealed that the Project One Mercedes AMG hypercar will offer at-least 1,000 horsepower, thanks to the turbocharged 1.6-liter V-6 engine which is paired with two electric motor generators and a lithium-ion battery. One of the electric motor generator powers the rear wheels, while the other aids the engine’s turbocharger.

Talking about the design, the Project One Mercedes AMG hypercar makes heavy use of carbon fiber trim, which turns it aerodynamically efficient. Only 300 examples of the hypercar will be built and each will cost around $2.54 million.
