Liqui Moly Team Engstler will enter the TCR Middle East Race series in Dubai with five Volkswagen Golf GTI cars this weekend. The German team recruited the TCR International Series race victor, Mato Homola along with TCR newbies Filip Sladecka, Luca Englster, Brandon Gdovic and Stefan Goede.
Sladecka however has got the taste of GTI cars. He participated in 2013 and 2014 European Touring Car Cup and raced in an Alpha Romeo 156 S2000.
Looking forward to this year’s racing tournament, Homola is shaping up for an epic race, even though he’ll be driving a Volkswagen Golf for the first time. “It has many points common with SEAT Leon I which I drove for B3 Racing in TCR series 2016”, Homola said.
Luca Englster making his TCR debut in Dubai will join his father Franz Englster’s team. The 16 years old Luca dreamt of driving a touring car every time he watched his father. He has already tested the Golf GTI at Adria International Raceway.
The 24 years old Brandon is also a part of the Liqui Moly Team Englster this series. The American racer from Pittsburgh hopes to achieve good results with his first opportunity in the TCR International series.
The final Volkswagen Golf GTI in the Liqui Moly Team Engstler will be run by Goede. The 31 years old motor racer from Bavaria was a regular competitor in Austrian Histo Cup from 2013, driving a BMW E30 325i in the BMW Challenge. He looks forward to the series and hopes it would be a challenging and learning experience.
