The official Dubai Police iOS app update (version 6.0), has something very advantageous for visually deprived users. The app uses Smart Camera that can capture and process any image in the surroundings and narrate that through voiceover to the user.
Dubai Police took a major step to integrate the app with smart voice assistant Siri, providing key aid to its visually impaired users. The Department of Smart Services at Dubai Police took this initiative to provide an encouraging atmosphere for Dubai’s disabled citizens.
Director General of Smart Services at Dubai Police, Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi while explaining how this new feature works told that the smart camera depends on optical detection technique which is unlike any feature ever introduced in the Middle East. All it requires is the activation of voice over and after opening the app users have to shake their device to open the camera which will then capture, process and explain the surroundings to them.
Apart from this main feature, the Dubai Police iOS app update includes 125 other unique features that support nine different languages. Furthermore, this smart service update will soon be available on Android devices.
