After Europe, Asia and the United States, the international Lamborghini Race Series is ready to debut in Dubai and Abu Dhabi starting from February 2017. Adding a fourth element to the series, the Super Trofeo Race will feature 30 identically prepared Lamborghini Huracan-based cars housing a 5.2 liter V-10 engine tuned to develop a massive 620 bhp using only the rear wheels and Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission. The model weighs only 1270 kg.
The Lamborghini’s Director of Research and Development, Maurizio Reggiani considers Middle East as one of the most important supercar markets for Urus SUV. He says, “Lamborghini is a car that will be perfect for that (Middle East) territory and the awareness of this brand must be pushed. So at every event we hold, there will a chance for the driving experience and exposure for the Urus as well. This is not just for a motor show but for the surroundings like a race track where everyone is a potential customer.”
The company has plans to introduce the Urus in 2018 which will be developed at a new facility built on the existing Sant’Agata factory in Italy. The Head of Motorsport, Giorgio Sanna also considers this showdown an opportunity to minimize the gap between track days and professional motor racing and maybe find the ultimate 24-hour winner through this series.
