Volkswagen is ready to launch the new VW I.D. Concept next month at the Detroit Auto Show and has also released a teaser image to give us a hint how this electric car concept would look like.

We believe this VW I.D. concept electric car will in fact be a microbus, and here are the reasons why. The automaker claims that it will boast a ‘multi-functional’ and flexible interior. Secondly, the I.D. concept will combine the elements from the vintage Volkswagen vehicle with the brand’s ‘electrifying future’. And lastly, the teaser image of the Volkswagen I.D. concept resembles somewhat to the old Volkswagen bus models.

Regarding the concept, we know that the I.D. concept will share its platform with the I.D. hatchback model, previewed a few months back at the Paris Auto Show. However, this concept model will have two electric motors and will be an all-wheel drive car instead of a rear-wheel drive.

The automaker claims that the VW I.D. concept will offer a long electric driving range, however did not reveal any specific numbers. Moreover, the future I.D. models will extend a fully autonomous drive and will be fitted with latest technologies including cameras, radars and monitors etc.
