The Ford 5.0L V8 coyote engine might not go a long way now, as recent reports suggest Blue Oval is working on a new Ford 4.8L V8 engine, which is scheduled to debut next month at the Detroit Auto Show.
While the current eight-cylinder engine is 5.0 liters, the new unit will be 4.8-liters naturally aspirated with improved direct and port fuel injection systems offering a better gas mileage compared to the 5.0L coyote engine.
According to Ford Authority, the new Ford 4.8L V8 will provide a higher compression ratio, which in turn would help in generating a better horsepower. The current Ford GT with the coyote engine produces 435 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Rumors also suggest the new 4.8L V8 unit will be seen in the latest 2018 Ford Mustang GT and the 2018 Ford F-150. Both the vehicles will render a better and improved performance compared to the existing models and will be equipped with advanced technologies along with an updated exterior design.
Blue Oval has not revealed any other information regarding the Ford 4.8L V8 engine, and will disclose further details in the coming weeks when the engine debuts at the Detroit Auto Show.
