The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster made its public appearance a few months back at the 2016 Paris Auto Show and now the automaker is working on its coupe variant, as we caught the vehicle during what seems to be an official photoshoot of the vehicle.
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C coupe adopts some components from the Mercedes AMG GT-R, which include the “Panamericana” grille and the fenders. However, it will not carry the same powertrain as the GT-R. The AMG GT C coupe will feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine capable of churning out 550 horsepower, which makes it more powerful than the GT-S and GT.
The engine will be mated to a seven-speed manual transmission system allowing this coupe to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 317 km/h. Other elements borrowed from the GT-R include AMG suspension system, electronic differential, rear-wheel steering, high-end exhaust tips and active aero shutters.
This particular Mercedes-AMG GT C coupe model is wearing an ‘Edition 50’ badge which tells this may arrive to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the AMG division next year. The GT C coupe will make its debut in late 2017.
