On 10th December, BMW hosted an end of the year celebration program in Munich, Germany. Usually, this event is held every year where BMW reveals its plans for the upcoming year, however, this time the automaker also unveiled a brand-new car, dubbed as the BMW M4 GT4.
The heavily camouflaged BMW M4 GT4 was displayed in the prototype form. BMW says it will not launch officially until 2018, but will participate in a few competitions next year, as part of its development program including the 2017 24 Hours of Dubai, which will take place in January. BMW mentions the M4 GT4 is designed to meet the requirements of GT4 competitions held across Asia, Europe and North America.
To keep the price of the car low, the BMW M4 GT4 will borrow a number of components including the powertrain from the previous GT4 models. Other automakers that have also launched their GT4 models include Aston Martin, Ford, McLaren and Porsche.
It is unclear right now whether BMW will also launch a road-legal version of the M4 GT4. We expect to receive more information in the coming months.
