We all thought that the new Shelby GT500 will arrive as a 2018 model year, however someone on the internet pointed out recently that if you type ‘gt500’ on Google, the result shows 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 | The Cobra of Performance Cars. The link even redirects to the official Ford website.
This leads us to believe that the new Shelby GT500 will make its debut as a 2017 model and is expected to arrive very soon. Launching the new model also means Ford will preview the car in the coming months. Considering the 2017 Detroit Show is less than a month away, we might see the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 making its debut on that show. If not in Detroit, it may arrive at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
Currently, we have no details regarding the powertrain, but rumors suggest it will carry a twin-turbocharged V8 unit, generating 700 to 800 horsepower. Moreover, the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 is also expected to feature sporty Brembo brakes and an enhanced suspension system. It will compete with the likes of Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
