The Maserati Alfieri concept was first unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. Now, the automaker has confirmed that an all-electric version of the sports car will arrive by 2020.
Talking to Just-Auto, Peter Denton, the general manager at Maserati North Europe stated that the Alfieri sports car will first launch with a V8 engine and an electric model will follow up. The automaker will launch both coupe and convertible versions of the Maserati Alfieri and it will compete with the likes of Porsche’s 718 Cayman and the upcoming Renault Alpine.
Talking about the design, the company’s official mentioned the Maserati Alfieri will be larger in size compared to the Porsche Boxster, Porsche 911 and Cayman models.
The Maserati Alfieri with a regular gasoline engine will first arrive in 2019, while the electric variant will be introduced in 2020. It will most likely be priced close to the Jaguar F-Type, which carries a price tag of $61,400 and is equipped with a V6 engine paired with a manual transmission system. The electric version will be priced higher.
