The newly launched automotive company, ‘NextEV’ by a Chinese billionaire, has recently introduced their new brand and a new car dubbed as the Nio EP9. The interesting part is the company claims it is the world’s fastest electric super car.
The Nio EP9 (Electric Power 9) also hit the Nürburgring track and set a lap record of 7:05.12, beating the previous record of 7:22.329 set up by the Toyota TMG EV P002 prototype racer. The current lap time set by the Nia EP9 makes it faster than most of the supercars, albeit it still ranks below the Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce, Nissan GT-R Nismo and the Porsche 918 Spyder.
The Nio EP9 is powered by four electric motors, each having its own gearbox. The four motors collectively produce up to 1,360 horsepower and 1,091 lb.-ft of torque. With this powertrain, the Nio EP9 is capable of going from 0 to 62 (0 to 100 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds.
Talking about the design, the Nio EP9 features carbon fiber body weighing just 364 pounds. The automaker claims that the batteries are interchangeable and can be recharged in 45 minutes. Moreover, it also extends advanced braking system, a torque vectoring system and a phenomenal four-mode active suspension.
It will be available for sale in China next year.
