Remember the legendary Jaguar XKSS sports car, which came out in 1957? Well, the British automaker is now building it again. Mind you, this is not the successor of the 1957 Jaguar XKSS, but a continuation model, which is built with exact same specifications as the vintage XKSS.
A few months back, Jaguar confirmed its plan to launch a total of 9 Jaguar XKSS sports car models. At the 2016 LA Auto Show, the automaker revealed the first car. About the similarities between this continuation model and the original 1957 XKSS, the Jaguar engineering boss, Kev Riches, says everything from the wood used on the steering wheel to the grain of leather seats are same as the original car. Moreover, the type, position and all the 20,000 rivets used in the new Jaguar XKSS sports car is identical to the 1957 model.
Under the hood, it carries a D-Type’s 3.4-liter, triple-carbureted engine capable of producing 262 horsepower.
The build slots for this particular model have been sold out for a price of $1.5 million. Jaguar will build total nine continuation models during 2017 and the deliveries will start shortly after production.
