The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo concept was first showcased at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, as the shooting brake edition of the popular Porsche Panamera sedan. It received a lot of recognition among the fans; however it was unknown if the model will go into the production. Surprisingly, we just caught a Porsche test driving at Nürburgring and spy shots reveal it is in fact the same Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo which made its debut in 2012.
We believe that this prototype will be a high performance model judging from the upgraded wheels, tires, impressive brakes and the phenomenal square-shaped quad exhaust tips. The overall shape of the prototype is very similar to the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo concept displayed earlier in Paris.
Although, the car is in a wagon shape, but Porsche prefers to use a more trendy naming convention, thus the new car will most probably be called something like ‘shooting brake edition’, ‘Gran Turismo’ or ‘Estate’.
By launching a wagon-shaped Panamera in the market, Porsche is targeting its rivals including Mercedes-Benz CLS and Jaguar XF Sportbrake. We currently don’t know anything regarding powertrain specifications or pricing details. However, we expect the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo to hit the dealerships sometime in 2017.
