Volkswagen has raised the curtains off its brand new 3-row SUV titled as the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. It was first shown in the concept form (the CrossBlue concept) three years back at the Detroit Auto Show.

The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is based on the MQB platform and will be built at the automaker’s factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It measures 198.3 inches in length and 77.9 in width and is aimed to target those who are looking to buy a spacious family SUV. The 2018 Atlas will compete with the likes of Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, when it arrives in the market.

Besides a spacious interior, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas extends a large infotainment display, wooden trim used on the front dash and sides and big control knobs. Moreover, it also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with a 12-speaker audio system and high-tech safety facilities.

The Volkswagen Atlas will offer a choice between two powertrains: the base turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder with 238 horsepower and a more powerful 3.6L V6 with 280 horsepower.

The Atlas will make its official debut next month at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.
