General Motors confirmed on 26th October that they are killing Holden Commodore production in Australia and the new 2018 Holden Commodore will be built in Germany.
The automaker’s Australia plant has been producing the Holden Commodore since last four decades. The Holden’s assembly line will be closed down on October 2017.
The automaker also revealed some important information regarding the 2018 Holden Commodore. It will feature three engine options i.e. a 2.0L four cylinder turbo gasoline engine, a 2.0L four cylinder turbo-diesel unit and a 3.6L V6 petrol engine. Surprisingly, unlike the outgoing model, the 2018 Holden Commodore will not be available in V8 engine.
The 2018 Commodore will feature advance technologies. It will focus on improving fuel efficiency while offering latest luxury facilities. The power output and performance statistics have not been revealed yet, but the automaker has confirmed that the petrol engines will render better performance than the 3.0L V6 engine in the current Commodore. The new V6 unit will include an active fuel management system, which can shut down cylinders when full power is not needed.
The 2018 Holden Commodore will arrive in Australian markets in February 2018.
