The California based car maker recently changed its name from Atieva to Lucid Motors and has announced its plans to introduce the first concept car very soon. The Lucid Motors electric concept car will compete with the Tesla Model S, according to the company officials.
The powertrain specification of the Lucid Motors electric car is not known yet, but the company’s executives predict that it will be capable of producing up to 900 horsepower. It will carry an 87-kWh battery pack that will allow it to travel about 300 miles on a single charge.
Since the electric sedan will compete with the Tesla Model S, it must have phenomenal performance. Reports suggest that it will be capable of going from standstill to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and will have semi-autonomous driving capabilities.
The production of Lucid Motors electric car will start in 2018. The company anticipates selling around 20,000 units in just the first year of its launch. However, with more products adding to the lineup, the automaker plans to sell an average of 130,000 units annually. A crossover will be launched too for rival the Tesla Model X.
