The Ford Mustang EcoBoost has been on sale for quite some time now and has attained a good market position. However, to make things more fun and attract extra potential clients, the automaker has just introduced Ford performance package, which adds even more oomph to the powertrain.
The Ford Mustang EcoBoost carries a 2.3 four-cylinder ecoboost engine that produces 310 horsepower. With the Ford performance package, the 2.3L unit will generate a total of 335 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft of torque. With the improved ECU calibration, the Mustang would be able to gain around 40 horsepower and 60 lb-ft of torque, between 2,500 to 5,000 rpm.
The power upgrade kit starts at $699 and can be installed on Mustang EcoBoost model equipped with either six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. In automatic variants, the performance kit optimizes shift schedules for an even better drive.
Just a few months back, Ford introduced a similar performance upgrade kit for Mustang GT, which is available in three different packs. The first kit increases the power output by 13 horsepower and 16 lb.-ft of torque. The second kit includes a cold air intake and updated throttle body and an intake adapter similar to the one found in Shelby GT350, adding an extra 21 hp and 24 lb.-ft of torque. The third kit enables Mustang GT to max out a total 472 horsepower and 405 lb-ft torque, adding an extra 37 horsepower and 5 lb.-ft of torque compared to the standard V8 engine.
