The German automaker has confirmed that the seventh generation BMW 5-Series will be unveiled today (October 13, 2016).

To create more hype about the new BMW 5-Series, the automaker has released teaser videos, which highlight some of the technological features we would get to see in the mid-size luxury sedan.

Some of these technologies include semi-autonomous driving aid, which will allow the car to drive itself in slow moving traffic as well as keep the car in a particular lane. The semi-autonomous driving aid will also act as a safety feature and will provide brake support if it senses any potential hazard. Furthermore, the driver would be able to view the surroundings of the car via a smartphone application.

In the powertrain department, we can expect the seventh generation BMW 5-Series to carry a turbocharged 4, 6 and 8 engine options. A plug-in hybrid model will also hit the dealership shortly after the regular version is launched.

The new 5-Series will ride on a modified version of the platform, which we saw in the 2016 7-Series models. It will arrive at showrooms in the spring of 2017.
