Volkswagen may be struggling with its diesel engines, but its luxury division has just unleashed its first ever diesel mill which would pump inside the Bentley Bentayga Diesel.

The luxury car maker is using the technology that debuted earlier in 2016 in the Audi SQ7 TDI for the Bentayga Diesel. The system comprises of a combination of 2 diesel turbo chargers and one electric turbo charger.

The 4.0 litre V8 engine gives the Bentley Bentayga Diesel 429 hp and 664 pf torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 168 mph. Boasting a range of 621 miles on a single tank, the carbon emissions of Bentley Bentayga Diesel (210 gms per km) are the lowest of any Bentley produced.

Bentley claims that its very first diesel offering is the world’s fastest diesel SUV. The Audi SQ7 TDI is technically capable of the same level of performance, but its top speed has been limited to 155 mph.

The Bentley Bentayga Diesel is not being offered for the US markets. It is expected to go on sale by early 2017 in Europe, followed by Russia, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan. Pricing is yet to be announced.
