The company best known for tuning Teslas and Mustangs has just announced the return of its own limited edition super car – the Saleen S7 LM.
The Saleen S7 was called the “America’s Only True Supercar” at the time it dominated racetracks in Europe and the US. The original exotic car was powered by a 7.0 litre V8 engine with 550 hp and it could sprint from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. The top speed was 220 mph.
This was followed by a twin-turbo version with 750 hp, which would accelerate from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and reach to a top speed of 248 mph. Production of the S7 ended in 2009, but the launch of the Saleen S7 LM will bring the supercar’s name back in the limelight.
The Saleen S7 LM is powered by the same 7.0 litre twin-turbo V8 as was pumping in its predecessor, but it has now been tuned to produce 1,000 bhp (almost double the power of the original car). The limited edition is being produced in celebration of the supercar’s 7 year winning streak which began in 1996.
With production being limited to 7 units only, the Saleen S7 LM is likely to be one of the rarest supercars on the market.
