A group of UAE-based expat women are organising a free workshop for female drivers in UAE with the objective of providing awareness on basic vehicle essentials.
Female drivers are often unable to handle vehicle emergencies or may be taken advantage of by repair men merely due to a lack of basic automobile knowledge. The free workshop, organised by Yemeni Rihab Awadh, 24, and Emiratis Noura Al Hajeri, 25, and Kaltham Al Ketbi, 24, aims to empower women by bridging this knowledge gap and is aptly titled “Empowering Auto Workshop”.
The free workshop for female drivers is being financed by Emirates NBD and will be conducted by technicians from Al Nabooda Automobiles. The training has been divided into three sections with the first dealing with basic car functionalities, the second on major car parts and the third on essential maintenance like oil change, tyres, brakes and charging batteries. Participants will be given certificates and giveaways by Emirates Driving Institute.
A total of four workshops are planned in Dubai and Abu Dhabi with over a 100 female drivers expected to enroll and benefit from the training. The first workshop will be held on September 24 at Al Nabooda Automobiles, Shaikh Zayed Road, for 20 women above the age of 18.
Participants can register for the workshop by emailing at mootary.uae@uae.com.
