The new Lexus UX concept is scheduled to release at the 2016 Paris Auto Show later this month. However, the automaker has revealed an image, which gives us an idea how the subcompact SUV will look like.
So far, the information about the Lexus UX concept is scarce. Looking at the image, we notice that the vehicle doesn’t have the traditional side mirrors. Instead, it is using the modern rear facing camera technology. This new technology was also seen in the BMW i8 concept car which was previewed earlier this year at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show. The Japanese automakers got the green signal to produce and sell mirrorless cars in June, therefore, we can expect automakers like Toyota to replace side mirrors with cameras in their future cars too.
Lexus has also stated that the UX concept will feature “imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience”, which gives us a hint that this subcompact SUV might be carrying a high-end infotainment system.
No powertrain and performance details have been released yet, but Lexus has registered trademarks for the names “UX 250” and “UX 250h” in Australia and Europe. It gives us a hint that it will be available in a hybrid engine too.
Stay tuned for more info, as we bring you the latest on 2016 Paris Auto Show scheduled to start on September 29.
