Dubai Police Toyota Prius cars (10 in number) have been handed over by Al Futtaim Motors, UAE’s official dealer of Toyota to mark their commitment for green environment. Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue at Dubai Police, Major General Anas Abdul Rahman Al Matroushi and managing director of Toyota at Al Futtaim Motors, Saud Abbasi completed the handover on Sunday. Other senior executives from both parties were also there to witness the ceremony.
Both Dubai Police and Al Futtaim Motors are committed to protect the environment by using techniques to reduce gas emission and noise produced by standard vehicles, the officials told. The use of Dubai Police Toyota Prius cars will contribute towards a more sustainable and cleaner environment.
The Prius can be driven on petrol, electric power or both. Drivers don’t need any special driving skills as the car is capable of switching between different driving modes for best mileage and lowest carbon discharge. It makes Prius not only fuel efficient but environment friendly too.
The new Toyota Prius is 60 per cent more fuel efficient as compared to other cars with a similar engine.
Abbasi said that Al Futtaim Motors takes pride in helping Dubai Police to carry out their duties in environment friendly cars. He believes that by 2050, Dubai will become a city with the smallest ratio of carbon emission around the globe.
