Five gamers set a new record for Forza 6 by playing for a staggering 48 hours, 29 minutes and 21 seconds. The marathon gaming session broke the existing Guinness World Record for the “Longest video marathon on a racing game”.

The gamers accomplished the seemingly impossible marathon gaming session by consuming 32 energy drinks, 146 bottles of water, 47 bottles of soft drinks and over 3 kg of candy. The total distance in virtual driving is an incredible and astonishing 41,004 kilometres (almost the same as driving around the planet once).

The 5 players raced the Ford GT on the simulated version of the Le Sarthe circuit in Forza 6. The real life Ford GT achieved a historic win on the same circuit at the Le Mans 24 Hours earlier this year.

The record breaking marathon gaming session was initiated by Stefan Mucke, who competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He said he was impressed by the team’s dedication as this level of gaming requires intense concentration and attention to detail.

The achievement of the five individuals – Cara Scott, 25, from the U.K.; Hélène Cressot, from France; Johannes Knapp, 30, from Germany; Andrea Lorenzo Facchinetti, 42, from Italy; and Jesús Sicilia Sánchez, 23, from Spain – was lauded by the official adjudicator of the Guinness World Record as a “superlative effort”.
