In the latest initiative to reduce traffic accidents, Dubai Police team up with ENOC to enable minor accident reporting at petrol stations. This will reduce the queues at police stations and provides additional access points for the public to report accidents.
The plan involves training of 15 ENOC employees by staff from Al Rashidiya police station. The training will enable the ENOC staff to use the Dubai Police’s smartphone app for minor accident reporting.
A trial run will be carried out in 3 ENOC stations in the vicinity of Al Rashidiya police station for the duration of 3 months. A police officer will be present at the petrol stations at all times during the trial period.
The service will be available 24 hours at Al Wasn station on Tripoli Street, Al Yamamah station on Mohammad bin Zayed Road and the Bypass Road Station. Locations were chosen on the basis of the frequency of accidents on these roads. Around 200-250 minor accident reports are received by Al Rashidiya police station every day.
The added benefit of this initiative is to increase awareness about the Dubai Police smartphone app for minor accident reporting. The app is user friendly and people can report minor accidents in less than 3 minutes. Moreover, it eliminates the need for people to visit the police station. A person reporting an accident through the app will receive a report through email or SMS merely minutes after filling in the required information.
The trained ENOC staff will be distinguished by wearing yellow vest with the Dubai Police logo.
