A new camera system in Dubai will help monitor and reduce traffic violations. Dubai Police will be installing 70 of the new devices under the program called “The Supervisor”.
The advanced camera system is capable of monitoring and identifying vehicles that violate lane markings, run intersections, or are too close to the hard shoulder along with other traffic violations. The devices have been deployed in key locations throughout the city.
The new camera system in Dubai comprises cylinder like radars connected to a central database and can identify car colours and types. Furthermore, it can also retrieve the car’s data from the central database. This means less manpower is required to monitor traffic violations, as the devices can record directly into the system.
In case of a device identifying a “wanted” vehicle, an alarm is issued to the command and control centre along with the location of the car, which can be pin-pointed through tracking devices.
