The hype surrounding the 2nd generation BMW i8 is not dying down any time soon. Recently, it was reported that an all-electric prototype is being developed by BMW for the latest model. Now it has emerged that the vehicle’s new power rating might leave Lamborghini Aventador behind which is a potential surprise if that happens.

The 2nd generation BMW i8 will be equipped with three brushless electric motors with a backup battery that will be requiring recharge after 300 miles. Each electric motor is having a power rating of 268 horsepower, so the added power equals to 804 horsepower. But the power generated by the i8 will be around 750 horsepower owing to the fact that power does not usually add up in the hybrid as well as electric vehicles. This is a considerable power upgrade as compared to the existing 357 horsepower of the current plug in hybrid i8 as well as 420 horsepower of the 2017 model.

BMW’s state of the art technology featured in i8 will give it a four wheel steering as well as a suspension system capable of active road scanning.

The electric ride is slated for launch in 2022 or may be later. We will not be waiting that long as a facelift is also expected in the meanwhile.
